Python's philosophy rejects the Perl "there is more than one way to do it" approach to language design in favor of "there should be one—and preferably only one—obvious way to do it".[54]
Perl is for people who think they’re smart. And for those who are actually smart, there’s Haskell, but I’m not ready for that yet.
I also read about Ruby—to hell with it, it didn’t grab me.
Personally, I’ve written more or less substantial programs only in Borland Delphi, Borland C++ Builder, and C#. I’ve written small bits in JS and PHP. Tiny ones, a couple of times—in Python, Java, and Perl.
Pascal is a decent language, though you have to write a lot. C++ is a nightmare and a horror; I’ll never write in it as long as I live, unless at gunpoint. JS is amusing, but debugging turns into torture. There’s no need even to talk about PHP; everyone understands everything. C# suits me perfectly—I love it, especially C# 3.0.
